Pass down the data obtained with Super-Kamiokande to future generations
Reliability and flexibility of the tape storage that protects the global assets

The only observation data that “must never be lost”—this is exactly why we save it on tape storage.
Tape storage, which are superior in terms of reliability, flexibility, and cost effectiveness, are used as a means to save the global assets.
The valuable data acquired using this detector, which resulted in a Nobel Prize, has been backed up on tape media and retained for a long time since 1996, when the operation of the detector started. We interviewed Associate Professor Yoshinari Hayato at the ICRR, The University of Tokyo; he has been engaged in developing and improving an important system for the detector.
